Emotions
My sister always says that I lack emotions. But, do you think it is possible? Even animals do not lack it. They show love, affection and care towards their offspring. They show a kind of unity at difficult times. Your pet always remains loyal to you once it decides to be so.
So, what is it that allows her to say so? It is the outcome of two things. First is the control over my emotions that I have built in last few years and the second is lack of her observational power. One can easily understand the emotional status of a person by noticing his/her decisions and daily minute activities. But everybody cannot bear same level of alertness and observational and concluding abilities. So, I shall not write about that here but I would like to talk about emotional control.
It is not always required to climb high onto the cliff of a mountain to announce what you think. One must develop a good control over his/her emotions in order to act wisely in different situations as emotions can both be a reason of your success as well as of your failure.
Emotions are a very big domain for discussion here. But I shall try to discuss some key points about them in my subsequent writings. Here also I would like to present some points that I think are helpful for building emotional control.
First thing is what you say. What you say is the first step of sharing what we want and think with others. One must be very careful about it. Never say anything of promise anything that you yourself are not sure about. This can build a kind of expectation and a basis of your evaluation.
Second thing is the patience. Have patience and wait for the right time to come for the expression of your emotions. Anything ahead of time or beyond the deadline is useless and even harmful.
Third thing is the expectations. Limit your expectations from those, with whom you have strong emotional attachments. This will allow you to appreciate that they too have their own free will and their own right to make decisions.
And the final thing is the right way to express your emotions. Also, when you do not express what you feel, you are almost sitting in a shell. Expressions should be very subtle in the beginning and then it should become vivid gradually only after getting favorable response on your subtler indications.
This was mostly about the expression of what you feel. But if you notice keenly, the third point is the most important one. It will provide you the spiritual strength to handle your emotions. Apart from this meditative practices also enable them to act in the right manner at difficult situations.
Just be in the present and understand that you are not everything yet. Others also have their own rights and mindsets. You can just be there to show what you are and to hear what you are looked upon as.
And the last line with which I would like to wrap up is that pure emotions travel. Just like your parents love you and you can hardly keep yourself away from loving them. This is the effect of pure emotion. If your feelings are really untainted by your selfish motives, you never have to face an emotional breakdown.
