Practice And Knowledge
Why do I emphasize so much on practice? All of you have heard that practice makes a man perfect but did not take it seriously because you find no body perfect.
Well, you do not find anyone perfect does not mean that perfection does not exist. Even you can experience perfection around you in the form of nature. Is this nature, this universe, the cosmos not perfect? Everything is related with all other things. Every smallest thing as well as the largest one has their own importance and significance. If this creation, this cosmos is so perfect, think of the perfection of the Creator, the God Himself.
Even if I consider another point of view that nobody is perfect, I will say at least you can get nearer to perfection. For success in any field you will have to practice.
Some people break piles of concrete slabs in a single blow, what you and I cannot even dare to try. This is just because the difference in practice.
If you are able to exercise, practise and live certain ideas, few great ideas, you get enlightened the moment you start pactising those ideas with notion that you will never give up those practices and will full faith and determination to exercise those ideas eternally.
But, this is as tough as shooting a bird with eyes closed with ribbon. This is because neither your mind nor your intellect will allow you to do so. Your mind will say that these ideas are useless materials and your intellect will not be able to find out a single point against the thought produced by the mind. This is the reason why even after knowing that we should not tell lie, we should not think wrong for others, we keep on doing the same.
This is why reasoning is required. This is why this blog, scriptures etc. exist. Also practising something has its effects in most appropriate manner only when you have complete faith and when you feel the need of such practice from you true inner self.
So, both practice and knowledge are important but again I would like to say that practice is more important and knowledge only helps you perform your practice unfailingly and in proper manner. If you are yet unable to understand read on.
Knowledge and practice are like two friends. With some knowledge you start practice and with practice you gain more knowledge which is also known as experience.
Knowledge which you gain from books, listening to someone, discussion etc. is just memory based or correlation or reasoning based but the knowledge gained by practice is experience. You may or must forget the knowledge gained from others and that will not be as useful for you as the knowledge that you yourself discover through practice. Knowledge gained through practical experiences has long lasting effects on your mind.
As I said that enlightenment is not too tough once you are able to practice few basic truths, you are enlightened but tougher is the continuous and firm determination for lifelong continuous practice. Once enlightenment achieved you start moving towards the final Union. So, that is another subject.
What I want to focus here is that the practice is the only way to success. The importance of practice can never be over emphasized. Without practice there can be no progress. You do not require anything else once you find yourself able to practise what you already know.
Vivekananda was a voracious reader but he himself said that book do not allow you to progress. This is because everyone experiences the truth in a different manner which is possible only with practice. By his life he showed the importance of both knowledge as well as practice. He said it is better to practice few sacred ideas that to memorize the whole library.
